Angelina Ballerina debuts at John Lewis

John Lewis has debuted HIT Entertainment's new CGI Angelina Ballerina product line from global master toy licensee, Mattel.

The new product range is available in store now and will feature figures, play-sets, dolls and plush. Over the next month, customers can also look forward to in-store appearances from the Angelina Ballerina character.

The launch runs alongside the new CGI TV series currently airing on Nick. Jr UK.

Jon Owen, senior vice president, HIT Brands Global said: "We are delighted the fantastic new Angelina Ballerina products from Mattel have launched at John Lewis stores across the UK.  John Lewis is a high quality retailer that undoubtedly wins the trust of parents.  We are confident the new Angelina lines will be well received."

Elaine Whiteman, Buyer for Toys at John Lewis said: "We are thrilled to be launching the new Angelina Ballerina range.  The eternal popularity of dance and Angelina's loyal fanbase is sure to make the range a big hit with our younger customers."

Toys and novelties specialist retailer Hawkin's Bazaar has long-term plans to open 170 shops and is currently seeking 60 temporary stores to open in time for the key Christmas trading period. The retailer currently runs 60 permanent stores and is headed up by chief executive Lyle Finlay.

Finlay commented that Hawkin's Bazaar will: "Double [its] portfolio over Christmas. We're very heavily skewed towards Christmas, more than any other retailer." The company is looking for outlets sized 1,500sq ft in primary town and city centre locations, aiming to find: "The best pitch we can in primary locations with good footfall," according to Finlay.

The search has started earlier than in previous years due to the increasing popularity of Christmas pop-up shops among brands, particularly fashion retailers. Hawkin's pop-up stores that perform very well in Christmas 2011 may become permanent fixtures.
