Generator Rex to debut at BLE

Turner CN Enterprises will be introducing the licensing programme for the latest original Cartoon Network series at this year's Brand Licensing Europe.

US TV ratings and early industry commitment indicates that Turner’s new property will build on the success of Ben 10.

From the creators of Ben 10, Generator Rex is an animated series that takes viewers on an adventure full of fun, action, wish fulfilment and teenage drama. Rex is a young super agent who must balance his adrenaline-fuelled adventures with the everyday ups and downs of being a teenager.

Alan Fenwick, vice president, Turner CN Enterprises, commented: “Generator Rex is a great action-adventure brand that will continue to build upon our core expertise of developing action brands for boys. The show debuted in the US in April where it has consistently ranked number one and a number of high profile, global partners have been secured in key areas even before the EMEA broadcast rollout. US TV ratings and early industry commitment indicates that Turner’s new property will build on the success of Ben 10.”

Mattel is already on-board as the global toy partner for the brand with a full line of action figures, role-play items, play sets and vehicles, and a global deal has been made with  games publisher Activision who has been appointed the interactive partner for the brand with a multi-platform release currently in development. A number of other new licensees are on board across EMEA and will be announced at the show.

A comprehensive broadcast schedule has been confirmed for EMEA with the UK as the first territory to launch on Cartoon Network in October 2010 and all other markets in 2011. The network has announced that an additional 20 new episodes of Generator Rex have been commissioned totalling 40 episodes available for broadcast to date. Product will start to roll out at retail in Q2  in the UK and from Q4  across EMEA.
