TNA appoints new chief marketing officer

Former Sony Pictures consumer products executive vice president Al Ovadia to oversee TNA Entertainment’s wrestling brand.

Bringing over 20 years of experience in television, marketing and licensing to TNA, Ovadia has served as the EVP for Sony Pictures Consumer Products, VP of licensing and merchandising for 20th Century Fox Film Corporation and VP of Network Creative Services at NBC Television.

Ovadia has overseen licensing partnerships and promotions for such properties as the Spiderman film franchise and The Simpsons, as well as integrated marketing campaigns across multiple entertainment platforms.

TNA Entertainment features a flagship television program, TNA iMPACT! that airs in over 100 countries worldwide, as well as pay-per-view, live event and home video platforms. Ovadia will oversee marketing development of the overall TNA Wrestling brand as well as all other marketing functions and licensing.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining Dixie and the terrific team she has assembled at TNA Wrestling,” Ovadia said. “I am hopeful that in my role as chief marketing officer, I can help accelerate (TNA's) growth even more so in the coming years.”

“TNA Entertainment is poised to make huge strides in our involvement on multiple entertainment platforms. Al’s experience and foresight in the industry will be indispensable as we move forward to take TNA Wrestling to the top of the entertainment world,” commented TNA President Dixie Carter.
