BGI set to launch BabyTV into the book world
BabyTV has appointed Bright Group International (BGI), a leading specialist in managing global publishing rights, to launch a new baby publishing series based on the channel’s programming.
BabyTV is the 24h commercial-free channel for infants, toddlers, and their parents. Founded in 2003, the channel reaches parents and children through major television platforms worldwide; in the UK it is available through Sky, BT Vision and Virgin TV.
All BabyTV programming is created in-house under the guidance of childhood experts and the focus is on developing high quality series’ that are designed to promote learning, activity and interaction in a fun environment.
Parents and children can also access additional content, including games, activities and an online learning centre, through the channel’s website at www.babytv.com.
BGI has been brought on board to help realise the property’s huge potential in the publishing sector. The group already represents a number of other companies looking to move their brands into publishing, including Hallmark and London Zoo.
“We always look for properties that have real integrity to them and are rich in content - this is the main motivator to lead a property into publishing,” says BGI MD Vicki Willden-Lebrecht. “BabyTV definitely fits this bill as we have been very impressed with the outstanding level of content available on the channel and the the scale and scope it can offer in publishing terms. We have already had considerable interest from potential partners.”
“We have been heavily investing in our programming library over the past few years, with more than 70 shows now available,” adds Maya Talit of BabyTV, “our series’ have received a very warm welcome from parents and children alike and we look forward to translating the success of our characters and stories into books together with Vicki and the BGI team.”
