DC Comics celebrates 75th anniversary with world record attempt

DC Comics and Warner Bros. Consumer Products invite fans to gather in Melbourne’s Federation Square in costume to break the Guinness World Record for the most number of people in superhero costumes in one location.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Comics, will be hosting the world record attempt as one of the major highlights in Australia this year to celebrate the 75th anniversary of DC Comics, which began publishing in 1935.

“The event is a great way to highlight the 75th anniversary of DC Comics and get the community involved as people of all ages love to dress up as their favorite heroes,” said Preston Kevin Lewis, the Australia and New Zealand managing director of Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “There will be plenty to keep families amused with roving DC Super Hero characters with whom to be photographed, as well as the chance to appear on television and the chance to be part of a world record.”

The two-hour event will include a live 20-minute Justice League stage show involving Batman, Wonder Woman and other great DC Comics heroes and villains who will be available for photo opportunities following the show.

To support the DC Comics activity, Warner Bros. Consumer Products also has a host of product opportunities across all categories, including toys, costumes, apparel and more. Lewis added, “This year’s celebration of DC Comics’ 75th anniversary is a prime time for licensees to get involved with activities happening across key retailers.”
