Health boost from Mickey and Pooh
Disney and Annabel Karmel agreed a deal to launch a brand new healthier snacking range using Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh.
The range is aimed at children aged 12 months-plus, to provide them
with healthier snack choices that taste great and add fun to snacking,
but the products can be enjoyed by the whole family.
The range consists of rice and corn snacks, juicy strawberry and
peach flavoured raisins and 100 per cent natural fruit crisps. The
range contains no artificial colours or flavours and each product has
been carefully developed to provide parents with healthier snacking
alternatives. For example, the rice and corn snacks contain 70 per cent
less sugars and 14 per cent less fat per 100g than their closest
equivalent.
“I’m always looking for new and exciting ways to add fun to
healthier foods,” commented Annabel Karmel. “So I am really thrilled to
have teamed up with Disney and to create this yummy range of wholesome
snacks.”
All products comply with The Walt Disney Company's strict
nutritional guidelines, which were introduced as part of the company’s
commitment to developing healthier foods for children. The guidelines
control calories, fat, saturated fat, sodium and sugar, and eliminate
trans fats altogether.
Dan Dossa, director, Food, Health & Beauty, Disney Consumer
Products UK added: “We find that when a child connects with a Disney
character, they are much more likely to try new and healthier foods.
We’re delighted to work with Annabel to bring this new range to market.”
