Bright links up with Brenton

Publishing and creative agency Bright Group International has announced details of an exciting link-up with Will Brenton, the man behind hit kids show The Tweenies, now running film company Wish Films.

Will has also been behind a number of successful shows in children’s television over the past few years – such as Boo!, BB3B!, Fun Song Factory and Jim Jam and Sunny – which have picked up a host of awards and nominations including a BAFTA, six BAFTA nominations, an RTS Award and several British Animation Awards nominations.

Will is now using his creative expertise to develop children’s content for Bright artist Holly Clifton-Brown, who has been working with him to produce two delightful new picture books for three- to seven-year-olds – Elephant White and Claude. The books have already been snapped up by publishers, with Elephant White set to hit the shelves through Templar, while Egmont has Claude in a two-book deal. Will is also working on two new books, Mika Macaroni’s Magical McAnimals and Baron von Mousehausen, which Bright is also looking to place with top publishers.

“I’m delighted to be working with the Bright team and Holly - it is the perfect combination of talent, creativity, energy and imaginative approaches to both content and business,” explains Will, “Holly’s work creates magical and unique worlds, which is what I have always tried to do with my stories, and together we are creating a unique brand of classic stories – a library of brand new fairy tales for the twenty-first century.”

Ellie Wharton from the Bright Literary Academy adds: “There is an infectious synergy between Will Brenton and Holly Clifton-Brown which has already captured the imagination of several big publishers and I have absolutely no doubt that this meeting of minds will become a leading brand in children’s publishing before too long. Templar and Egmont have led the way with the commissioning of Elephant White and Claude and we are extremely proud and honoured to be representing such a fabulous new creative partnership.”

BGI MD Vicki Willden-Lebrecht adds: “Working with someone of Will's experience has widened our own perception of what is possible and we look forward to creating more magical proposals for our clients and seeing how we can encourage more collaborations between high calibre artists and creators.”
