Care Bears to launch in Korea

American Greetings Properties (AGP) continues to expand the lovable and huggable Care Bears across the globe with a much anticipated launch in Korea this fall.

Working with Korean licensing agent, Asiana Licensing Incorporated (ALI), AGP has announced a number of licensing deals in key product categories.

Care Bears merchandise will be aimed at kids, juniors and babies, and will include stationery, pens and notebooks by Seh-A as well as watches and hair accessories by Forever Times. American Greetings and Asiana Licensing will continue to extend the licensing programme across all major categories, including apparel.  ALI will also be featuring the Care Bears on air at the Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival from July 21 – 25, 2010 at COEX in Seoul, Korea.

“We are very excited about the headway ALI has made in the Korean marketplace as we continue to build on the success of this brand,” said Carla Silva, vice president global licensing for American Greetings Properties. “The Care Bears have been a powerful force in the licensing industry and we look forward to expanding this legacy with our new partners around the globe.”

The Care Bears were first launched in the U.S. in 1982 by American Greetings Corporation and have grown into one of the most recognizable global children’s brands. Since the 2002 re-launch, millions of these lovable bears have been brought home to a new generation of fans generating more than $2.6 billion in global sales.
