Paramount announces new deals
Paramount Licensing has inked a number of new deals for some of its most popular licensing programmes, including Flashdance and The Godfather.
From Paramount Licensing and Mattel, the Flashdance Barbie doll is ready to leap into market! The doll, in a limited edition initial run of 3,100, comes with a doll stand for display, and the sweatshirt and legwarmers from the film’s most iconic scene.
Flashdance, the Oscar-winning 1983 film, became a cultural sensation when the film was first released in 1983. It delivers an electrifying mix of music, drama and dance and won an Oscar for the song “Flashdance: What A Feeling.” Flashdance Barbie will be available to collectors beginning July 1st, 2010.
The Godfather, based on Mario Puzo’s best-selling novel, features
Marlon Brando in his Oscar-winning role as the patriarch of the
Corleone family. One of the most celebrated films of all time, The
Godfather is a landmark of the contemporary cinematic art form, a
standard to which all other crime dramas are measured. The film
garnered ten Academy Award nominations and won three, including Best
Picture. With an estimated SRP of $150, the merchandise will be sold in high-end boutiques and specialty stores throughout Italy and the rest of Europe, the new collection will debut in autumn 2010.
Paramount Licensing is also manager of an adorable, new character brand, Angel Cat Sugar (www.angelcatsugar.com) in the US market. Designed by famed artist and character designer Yuko Shimizu, Angel Cat Sugar will be heading to stores throughout the United States through a flurry of new licensing deals, including: Boston America (lip balm, lip gloss and cosmetics kits), Brown Trout (wall calendars), Dan-Dee Int’l (plush), Kellytoy (amusement and crane plush and novelty sporting goods), MediBadge (stickers, temporary tattoos), Pioneer Balloon Company (balloons, play balls), Scholastic (story books and activity books) and University Games (board games and puzzles).
Scholastic currently has four books on shelves, with ten more title releases planned for 2010. Dan-Dee’s seasonal plush is being carried at CVS and Walgreens and is going to Walmart this holiday season, and stickers are now available through MediBadge’s catalogue. Additionally, board games and puzzles from Jazwares will be available at specialty retailers later this year.
