Rainbow brings Gon to Europe

Daewon Media and Rainbow SpA have distribution agreement for Daewon’s brand new 3D animation property Gon. 

Daewon, one of the largest animation companies in Korea, has already started production of the 3D series, which will be completed by the end of 2011. The series is based on is based on a Manga property owned by Kodansha, the largest publication house in Japan.

Rainbow have acquired the distribution and licensing rights of the property in Europe. This deal marks the first time Rainbow has ever acquired a third party property and a first Daewon-Rainbow collaboration.

Wook Jung, chairman and CEO of Daewon said: “We feel confident that a collaboration between two such prestigious and established animation companies such as Rainbow and Daewon will result in an enormous success.”  Commenting on Rainbow’s first ever third party deal, Iginio Straffi, CEO of Rainbow SpA noted: “Our decision to take on a third party property is an indication of our strong belief in this unique and loveable property, we strongly believe in its potential and have high hopes for Gon’s success.”

Gon is a fictional character shaped like a small dinosaur with unimaginable power and speed. The story takes place in nature and features Gon and other animals characters. The original books are known for its story-telling, detailed and beautiful animal illustration, and absence of any human characters, always maintaining a fresh and humorous outlook.
