RDF Rights secures t-shirt deal with BBC America

RDF Rights (RDFR), part of the RDF Media Group, has inked a deal with BBC America to produce Being Human t-shirts.

The t-shirts will be sold exclusively via BBC America’s website and at the Comic Con San Diego Event this summer.

The critically acclaimed drama, Being Human, produced by Touchpaper Television, part of the RDF Media Group, follows the lives of three twenty-somethings and their secret double-lives. Starring  Russell Tovey as George the werewolf, Aidan Turner (The Clinic) as Mitchell the vampire and Lenora Crichlow (Sugar Rush, Doctor Who, Kiss of Death) as Annie the ghost, the series takes a witty and extraordinary look at the friendship between three  outsiders trying to find their way in an enticing, yet complicated world.   

The series airs exclusively on BBC America following RDFR securing the broadcaster as the co-production partner in the US. Series one (episodes 1-6) in 2009 drew in an average total audience of over half a million and over the 64 broadcasts (including repeats) in Q3 of the same year, Being Human reached 3.5 million unique viewers. Being Human has enjoyed success both at home and abroad. Having recently been re commissioned for a third series and shortlisted for a raft of awards including Best Drama Series at this year’s BAFTA’s as well as Best Programme Marketing and Best Scripted Programme at the Broadcast Digital Awards 2010.

Internationally the show now airs in 28 territories  having been acquired by broadcasters in  Australia (ABC), New Zealand (Sky Network TV), Canada (CBC), Spain (Cuatro), Belgium (VRT), Sweden (SVT), Norway (NRK), Central Eastern Europe (AXN), Portugal and Portuguese Africa (Fox Intl Channels Espana), Eastern Europe (Leopolis Films) Latin America ( Lap TV),  Brazil (Globosat), Israel (DBS Satellite) and BBC Worldwide.

RDFR licensed 2entertain the rights to produce Being Human DVDs and total sales to date in the UK have been in excess of 45,000 units. Internationally, DVDs have also launched in the USA, Scandinavia and Australia with series 2 rolling out later this year.
