Yu-Gi-Oh! hits the internet
4Kids Entertainment, licensing agent for the animated series Yu-Gi-Oh!, along with the property’s licensors TV TOKYO and NAS confirm development of new online Yu-Gi-Oh! global hub.
The companies have teamed up with website specialists MadeByPi to develop a dedicated global site, www.yugioh.com, which is set to launch in November, coinciding with the franchise’s 10th anniversary.
Yu-Gi-Oh! boasts millions of enthusiastic fans worldwide, with approximately six million people collecting and playing the trading card games around the globe and television series broadcast across 80 countries.
An English language version of the site will launch initially and then be followed by German, Italian and French versions. The website will include lowdowns on all the characters and storylines from the past 10 years of Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s. It will also integrate the many facets of the brand by linking to various websites (including local TV broadcaster websites and websites related to the TCG and video games), and by providing updates on the newest toys, publishing and licensed products. Fans will also be able to become members of the online club, which will allow them to access exclusive content, including competitions and downloads.
The new website will boost what is an impressive global licensing portfolio, with the brand represented across a range of sectors including toys, video games, apparel, costumes, calendars, publishing, stationery, games and puzzles.
“Yu-Gi-Oh! has been a big international hit over the last decade and the new website is sure to boost the profile of what is already an incredibly popular property,” added Sandra Vauthier-Cellier, managing director, 4Kids Entertainment International.
