DRi embraces World of Happy
An exciting new brand by Giles Andreae, one of licensing’s most talented and successful creators, will be represented by DRi Licensing. Known for the bestselling Purple Ronnie and The Interesting Thoughts of Edward Monkton – Giles’ first children’s brand World of Happy is a celebration of love, happiness and the simple joys of life.
Contemporary, funny and uplifting, World of Happy supports and promotes positive

values such as respect, trust and kindness, delivering an emotionally rich and rewarding experience in a surprisingly light-handed and playful way. Whilst children will love the funky, colourful animals and silly stories, adults will appreciate the deeper messages beneath them.
Already spotted by the BBC - a World of Happy animated series of 13 x 2 minute episodes is regularly aired on CBBC. Egmont Books is the property’s master publisher and an extensive publishing programme of 13 picture books, all of which will be released simultaneously in Spring 2011, will be backed by a huge national PR and advertising campaign.
Alicia Davenport, Licensing Director of DRi Licensing, which also represents the successful Edward Monkton property, said: “Giles’ creativity knows no limits and we are delighted to be representing another of his quirky and original properties.
“World of Happy has the potential to establish itself as a major publishing franchise – these are not just stories but modern day fables that will teach children about really important and heartfelt values. We are absolutely delighted to be starting 2011 with this new brand and plans are well underway for the development of a strategic and long term licensing programme which will reflect the essence of the brand,” added Alicia.
Giles is also one of the most established and successful picture book authors in the UK and has won many awards for his work. Titles include Rumble in the Jungle, Captain Finn and the Pirate Dinosaurs, Pants and the international bestseller Giraffes Can’t Dance.
Purple Ronnie, Edward Monkton and Giles’ children’s books have sold between them 100 million greetings cards, six million books and £250m of merchandise.
DRi Licensing’s property portfolio also includes Miffy, Pink Cookie, Zigby, Madeleine Floyd, Caroline Gardner and The World of Roald Dahl.
