Abscissa Dressed Up For Licensing Success!
Abscissa.Com, the largest online retailer of adult fancy dress costumes and accessories in the UK, today announced its entry into the world of licensing with the launch of three brand new licensed product ranges – Brainiac, The Comic Stripper and Mr Methane.

The initial range of innovative, high quality products will roll out late Autumn of this year and continue through to Spring 2011.
Commenting on the launch, Mark Lewis, managing director at Abscissa.Com said “As the company continues to experience exponential growth and is actively developing its manufacturing side of the business, licensing is a natural progression for Abscissa. Licensed character dress-up is a recognised and established part of a wider global industry and licensing manufactured goods will provide Abscissa with an even greater portfolio of product to take its growing market and its 500,000 strong consumer database.”
Mark explains that Abscissa.Com will be initially and very deliberately launching with three very different licensed product ranges. “There is a huge awareness and following of Brainiac and, with its very simply but instantly recognisable imagery, makes for a wonderful fancy dress costume that will appeal to both men and women. Comic Stripper on the other hand taps into one of the best-selling dress-up categories, that of super-heroes and the imagination inherent in Zero Heroes and Bad Santa will immediately appeal to a large chunk of our growing consumer database.”
With an eye on the upcoming festive party season, Mark is also delighted to announce the launch of the Mr Methane fancy dress-up range “This is the ultimate party joker and a costume that we know from searches on our website will appeal to blokes out with their mates – it’s just what they do!” explained Mark.
Following a great initial reaction to its first tentative steps into the licensing arena, Abscissa.Com will develop further licensed dress-up product through 2011 and beyond. “There are significant opportunities still to be exploited in the world of dress-up. Through our trading operation, we have a unique consumer insight and with bespoke manufacturing capabilities, are able to provide licensors and the consumer with high quality, highly innovative product. Licensing will play a big part in our growth and we are already in discussion with licensors for our 2011-2012 ranges.” said Mark.
Brainiac: Science Abuse is the multi award winning series from Sky One has been licensed to Abscissa.Com by Start Licensing. It delves into the mysteries of science, seeks out answers to those scientific questions that have forever puzzled mankind, conducting all manner of experiments so that we don’t have to.
Appealing to both men and women, Abscissa.Com will be launching an initial range of licensed products Spring 2011 that include dress-up lab outfits, sexy Brainiac assistant costumes and a suit in homage to the as yet unmasked hero responsible for blowing up caravans!
Zero Heroes, created by Anthony Williams at The Comic Stripper, an artist who has drawn for Marvel Comics including Superman, Spiderman, Batman and The X Men, are the antidote to wholesome web swinging heroes and grim dark knights, poking a finger in the indestructible eye of super-duper-men everywhere. Abscissa will be launching a total of nine Zero Heroes Spring 2011, seven for the boys and two for the girls. Bad to the Bone, Buttman, Captain Perfect, Human Target, Incredible Geek, Roid Rage and Slugger will be on the must have party outfit for boys, while Bad Babe and Little Miss Negative will be on every party girls shopping list. In addition, Bad Santa is The Comic Stripper’s spin on the typical Santa and wow, is he bad! Abscissa.Com will be launching Bad Santa this November, just in time for the important Christmas party market.
Mr Methane, a professional flatulist with a huge and growing fan base, was catapulted to fame when he auditioned in the 2009 series of Britain’s Got Talent where he announced his intention to ‘put the art into fart’ but heroically failed to make it through to the live finals, after being buzzed out by all three judges during his performance of the Blue Danube waltz. Abscissa.Com will be launching a one size Mr Methane costume November this year in readiness for the busy Christmas and New Year party season and are currently planning a record breaking attempt on one of the more windy Guinness World Records in early January 2011!
