According to official results, Roary the Racing Car - the official children’s ambassador for the Grand Prix in Melbourne - was the number boys’ pre-school DVD in March 2010.
Chapman Entertainment and Magna Home Entertainment officially launched the new DVD ‘Meet Conrod the V8’ at a Roary VIP Pit Zone Party at Albert Park, Australia. Over 15,000 excited fans visited the Roary Pit Zone, which included interactive games, Roary races, competitions, face painting, a photo zone with Roary and Big Chris, and many more exciting activities across four days from 25th – 28th March 2010.
Keith Chapman, co-creator of Roary, commented: “The idea for Conrod developed following the 2009 Australian Grand Prix. The GP partnership has been extremely successful and we were really pleased to see so many kids and parents alike enjoying themselves at the Roary Pit Zone.”
Drew Ward, CEO Australian Grand Prix, said: “We were delighted to have Roary and his team back in Melbourne this year for the Australian Grand Prix. It was great to see so many excited kids meeting their favourite Roary characters at the track.”
In the lead up to the Australian Grand Prix, Funtastic reported a significant uplift in toys sales following the launch of the new series featuring Craig Lowndes on ABC1 and ABC2. A Talking Conrod Car is launching in September and colouring books by Harper Collins are also coming out to capitalize on Conrod mania in Australia.
