Spooky Skaters come to life
Manchester-based independent creative agency, Studio Liddell has announced a partnership with Fun Crew and is showcasing new property, Spooky Skaters at MIPTV.
Spooky Skaters is based on an original idea from Angela Salt and Stuart Harrison - otherwise known as Fun Crew. The original concept exists as 2D drawn cartoons, featured in D.C. Thomson's Dandy Xtreme magazine and has also been turned into two children’s books. Studio Liddell will bring the property to life in 3D animation for TV, online and gaming platforms, targeting six to 11 year olds. The company is also the official iPhone and Nintendo Wii developer for this property.
Spooky Skaters follows the adventures of RIP, Juju, Hex, Jinx and Zomboy, five free-stylin', fiendish friends from the underworld, intent on having fun and adventures in the mortal world. They use their supernatural skate skills as a force for good and to solve mysteries with a paranormal theme. The feel of the show is fast-paced action-packed adventure; über-cool and very street with an emphasis on comedy, great stories and a fantastic, spine-chilling twist!
Ian Liddell, director of Studio Liddell, says: "Already a popular comic strip, this property has the potential to grow into a hit TV series. In addition to this, Spooky Skaters has been designed as full 360 degree proposition with additional on-line and gaming properties to bolster the IP. It’s a very attractive concept and we feel it will appeal to a wide audience – we will be looking for a broadcaster that shares our vision for Spooky Skaters."
Studio Liddell will be looking to attract broadcasters interested in the series for TV and/or multiplatform, as well as a distributor to take the series to an international audience.
