TWF storms ahead in US
Animation Collective has announced that the Thumb Wrestling Federation
is increasing its popularity in the US with excellent sales figures
reported for the Thumb Wrestling Federation Official Thumbbook from
Random House.
The figures, released in late January, show that the TWF title was the
number one humour book for Scholastic and the ninth most popular of all
Book Fair humour titles during autumn 2009. The 96-page ‘Thumbbook’ is
distributed by Scholastic in the US and has the lowdown on all the
crazy TWF characters and enables budding thumb wrestlers to make their
own championship belts and wrestling rings.
“This book is great fun and Scholastic is doing a fantastic job
with distribution,” says Bulldog MD Rob Corney. “The amount of copies
that are being sold is further evidence of just how well TWF is doing
in the US.”
Bulldog has landed a string of high-profile UK licensees – in
addition to Random House these include Danilo for greetings cards,
Aykroyds TDP for apparel, Panini for sticker books, Pyramid for
posters, and Roy Lowe and Sons for socks, gloves, hats and scarves,
whilst Sambro is on board for TWF masks and wrestling rings, which are
selling in huge numbers across The Entertainer, Asda, Toys R Us, WH
Smith and independent shops.
