Thomas & Friends feature-length special
HIT Entertainment announced impressive ratings for its feature-length Thomas & Friends special, Misty Island Rescue, shown on Milkshake!, Channel 5 over Christmas.
Transmitted on Christmas Eve, the hour-long CG-animated special was 185 per cent up on the slot average from the previous year for all children and 143 per cent for children aged four to nine.
Alison Homewood, executive vice president worldwide programming, HIT Entertainment, commented: “Thomas & Friends has just celebrated its 65th anniversary and with figures as impressive as these, it’s clear the brand is as popular as ever. With plenty more activity in the pipeline, including the release of another feature-length special ‘Day of the Diesels’ in September, it’s full steam ahead for the UK’s number one pre-school property.”
Thomas & Friends - Misty Island Rescue introduced a host of new Thomas characters and locations as it told the story of how Thomas got lost at sea and tried to find his way back home to the Island of Sodor. It is currently available on DVD from all major retailers.
