Bright and Beyond’s WIT
Bright and Beyond Licensing has announced the acquisition for the publishing and general merchandising rights for WIT - a new property from the team at Backland Studio
, that combines simple, fun illustrations with a hugely addictive puzzle element.
WIT stands for What Is This? and is an original new property that features a host of innovative designs, which make people looking at them ask What Is This?! Mysteries can range from; is it a set of golf clubs or a spider falling down a chimney; is it an iPod or a welder with a doughnut stuck to his mask?
WIT has already proved to be a hit in America in the on-line greetings sector with American Greetings having run the puzzles on its website for over two years.
Bright and Beyond has been brought on board to extend the brand across other sectors and the team at Backland is already working on content for a number of possible projects, including books, apparel, calendars, gifts and games.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be representing WIT,” explained Bright and Beyond’s Vicki Willden-Lebrecht. “The Backland team have a fantastic pedigree and they’ve come up with something really exceptional this time. It is incredibly rare for a property this fresh and original to hit the market and we believe that it will prove to be a huge hit across any number of different categories.”
Backland Studio has been behind some of the biggest design brands of recent years, including Goochicoo, Scarlett and Crimson, Grumpy Old Gits and Vincent - with WIT set to prove equally successful.
