TOWIE picks up three TV Awards
The Only Way is Essex has scooped three top honours at the first ever National Reality TV Awards on July 6th.
TOWIE won Best Entertainment Show, beating off stiff competition from the likes of Kerry Coming Clean, Come Dine With Me and Britain’s Got Talent, it was also voted Best Non-Competition Show whilst cast member Amy Childs picked up the award for Reality Personality of the Year.
The event, which was in aid of the Help for Heroes charity, took place at the 02’s Proud 2 venue with stars such as Vanessa Feltz, Caprice, Duncan Bannantyne, Jamie Oliver, Kerry Katona, Bianca Gascoigne, Imogen Thomas and Jedward all joined the TOWIE cast on the red carpet.
The awards were voted for by the UK viewing public. The show also recently picked up the prestigious YouTube Audience Award Bafta and has been commissioned for a further series following the success of the first two seasons.
The show’s huge success has led producer Lime Pictures to appoint CPLG to implement the series’ UK licensing programme. Licensees have been quick to come on board and partners already include Somerbond for nightwear, underwear and leisurewear, FB Beauty for cosmetics, Fashion UK for t-shirts and tops, Imagination Games for board games and The Beauty Works for electricals.
Says Tim Juckes, category director at CPLG, commented: "These latest awards are further evidence of the huge popularity of TOWIE – the show has caught the nation’s imagination and the licensing sector has been quick to realise its potential. We have some excellent partners already on board with plenty more good news to come."
