Imira nets rights to Kumis

Imira Entertainment has picked up European licensing and merchandising rights to Kumis.

Kumis is a colourful Japanese-inspired, seven year-old brand created by Spain’s La Habitación de Nekane.

Laura Navarro, licensing manager for Spain and Portugal at Imira Entertainment, commented: "This is an enchanting brand; colourful, distinctive and with potential for a wide range of consumer products. We are looking to build on its current success with a licensing and merchandising push into new areas."

Kumis is four small geishas, a buddha and a ninja, each with distinct personalities and colourful looks mixing traditional and modern Japanese style with an emphasis on 60s style.

More than 300,000 teens own a Kumi product. The characters are popular on Facebook and online and Kumis products have featured in TV and films.

The Kumis brand has been adapted for products including figurines, plush, bags, pencil cases and homeware and is especially popular with females aged 8-35 years-old with a special line of products for boys aged 8-12 years-old. Kumis products are currently distributed in over 30 countries worldwide and new designs are released every season. Imira is looking to take the property into further product categories and new markets across Europe.

With an emphasis on design and decoration La Habitación de Nekane creates amusing, original, unique properties for all ages. Its products are found in more than 700 points of sale and in all major fashionable stores and concepts across Spanish cities and the rest of Europe.
