Strawberry Shortcake demonstrates strength in Latin America
Further strengthening Strawberry Shortcake’s worldwide presence, American Greetings Properties, the intellectual property and outbound licensing division of American Greetings Corporation has announced several new licensing deals for the pop culture icon in the burgeoning Latin American market.
The Strawberry Shortcake program has seen tremendous growth in the region in recent years and was recently voted the number 1 girls brand in Brazil.
The new deals, which were secured by Strawberry Shortcake’s international licensing agent Exim Licensing Group on behalf of Cookie Jar Entertainment’s licensing arm, CPLG, include a renewed direct-to-retail partnership with Ripley in Chile, a live travelling show in Latin America as well as eight additional licensees in Brazil. To date, Exim Licensing Group has secured over 65 licensing agreements with over 2,000 products that cover all major retail categories.
The new Brazilian licensees includes the Disney Channel as broadcast partner for Strawberry Shortcake’s CGI animated series Berry Bitty Adventures; Nestle for chocolate Easter eggs; Stickers and sticker albums from Panini Brasil; bedding from Jolitex; Colibri for infant soft goods; party goods with Regina Industria and Malwee Malhas for apparel.
Additionally, in July 2011 DT Entertainment will launch a live traveling show for Strawberry Shortcake that will debut in Argentina and then travel across Latin America with performances in Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Central America and the Caribbean.
Strawberry Shortcake continues its expansion in Chile this year as well through its renewed licensing agreement with Ripley department stores for an array of Strawberry Shortcake apparel and accessories that will be sold in over 40 Ripley store locations across the country.
