Turner CN Enterprises goes bananas
Turner CN Enterprises (TCNE), the licensing division of Turner Broadcasting, has announced that it is to become the licensing agent for pre-school brand, Bananas in Pyjamas in partnership with Endemol Worldwide Brands for major territories in EMEA.
The news follows Turner Broadcasting’s recent acquisition of the new 104x12’ 3D CGI-animated series which will debut as a flagship show on Turner’s UK pre-school channel Cartoonito, which is set to extend its broadcast across EMEA this September.
TCNE’s third party licensing role will support the overarching brand strategy by securing licensee partnerships for all product categories in multiple territories across Europe in addition to the Middle East and Africa.
Since its first broadcast on Australian ABC Television in 1992, Bananas in Pyjamas has aired in over 70 countries capturing a viewing audience in excess of 100 million. The brand has been represented by over 30 licensing agents, with over 500 licensees and more than 1,000 product lines.
TCNE will look to emulate the brand’s original licensing and merchandising success whilst taking it to a new level of commercial success through licensing programmes that mirror the Bananas in Pyjamas core attributes of humour, creative problem solving, imagination, social interaction and engagement.
Alan Fenwick, VP Turner CN Enterprises commented: “Securing licensing rights to Bananas in Pyjamas, a globally recognised brand with a much-loved heritage, marks an exciting chapter for us as we embark on developing pre-school licensing programmes for European markets. It’s exciting to be working with one of the industry’s best known content producers on the re-vamp of a classic brand and we look forward to leveraging our existing relationships with key licensees to create vibrant and fun consumer products.”
