Roobarb And Custard Pet accessories coming soon!
Bulldog Licensing has announced details of three new agreements for classic animation property Roobarb and Custard
Roobarb, the madcap green dog, and his feline adversary Custard were
created by Grange Calveley in the early 70's and were the stars of the
Bob Godfrey directed BBC cartoon series Roobarb.
Narrated by Richard Briers, only one series was originally produced, but
the trademark wobbly animation, zany storylines and fiendishly catchy
theme tune made the show into a cult sensation and it won a legion of
devoted followers of all ages during the 70’s and 80’s. A brand new
series, Roobarb and Custard Too, hit the screens in 2005 and has since
been broadcast regularly by Channel Five, pulling in a whole new
generation of fans.
The enduring popularity of the iconic brand has enabled Bulldog to
attract three new partners to the licensing programme. These are Fred
and Ginger for a range of Roobarb and Custard-branded pet accessories,
Fatspanner for pub entertainment machines and Diablo Skinz for mobile
phone, tablet and laptop skins.
The new deals add to the property’s
strong presence in the licensing sector, with Mogzilla on board for
publishing, Poetic Gem for apparel, Museums and Galleries for greetings,
PMS for amusement plush, and Riviera for canvas wall art. The animated
duo also act as brand ambassadors for leading animal charity the PDSA.
“Roobarb and Custard occupies a special place in British culture and is
loved across generations – this has enabled us to put together a
licensing programme that takes in everything form children’s books to
adult T-shirts and these new agreements represent a significant boost to
what is already an impressive programme,” says Bulldog MD Rob Corney.
