News from across the pond: SpongeBob Square Pants arrives at Sea World

The world's first SpongeBob SquarePants parade hits Sea World

One of Nickeolodeon's most popular characters, SpongeBob SquarePants, has been made into a parade for Sea World.

The large-scale parade set in Sea World's grand event stadium brings SpongeBob's wonderful underwater world of Bikini Bottom to life at the theme park in Queensland, Australia.

Floats and water displays involving 12 water cannons, an array of brightly coloured dancers as well as boatmobiles zooming around Sea World's lake,

Village Roadshow Theme Parks chief executive officer Tim Fisher told the Central Queensland newspaper that this parade is like nothing Sea World has ever done before. "SpongeBob ParadePants is one of the most dazzling parades in the world as guests are transported into an underwater wonderland with SpongeBob, Patrick Star and more Bikini Bottom dwellers.

"This world class experience is more than just a parade; guests are delighted by both the sights and sounds of this fun filled celebration of well intentioned nautical nonsense.

"A highlight of the multimillion dollar parade is the grand finale featuring an eruption of a 20 meter wall of water in the middle of the lake as part of a stunning water display, as well as a swarm of jellyfish that engulf the parade," Mr Fisher said.

The large-scale attraction for fans of all ages was developed exclusively for Sea World by the creative team behind SpongeBob SquarePants.

The parade involves over 50 staff and features key characters and design elements from Nickelodeon's hugely popular animated series.
