The Muppets make magazines
Egmont Creative Centre create a Muppet one-shot magazine
Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and Muppet friends have taken centre stage again with Disney’s release of “The Muppets” in the United States and Canada.
Egmont Creative Centre (ECC) will create a one-shot magazine to coincide with Muppet Mania and the release of the movie throughout Europe beginning January 2012.
“We are excited to have this opportunity to expand on the story line and audience appeal with the Muppets Magazine,” says Lone Jochumsen, editor in chief at ECC. “These lovable characters have a long history of pleasing audiences of all ages and across all cultures.”
The Muppets Magazine is scheduled for distribution in Germany and part of Eastern Europe initially, Jochumsen says. Targeted at teens, the full-colour, 36-page magazine will feature a mix of comic pages, quizzes,
profiles, activities, fun facts and jokes geared to the slightly older target group.
“Teens are a perfect audience for our publication,” Jochumsen says. “The Muppets are nostalgic for them – a good memory from their childhood. The magazine builds on the characters teens love and helps bring the story of the movie to life.”
In the movie, starring Amy Adams, Jason Segel, and Chris Cooper, the Muppets have been split up for years and are now living in a variety of situations and places. Gary, Mary and Walter seek to reunite the Muppets in order to save their theatre from a greedy oil tycoon.
