FremantleMedia takes Rebecca Bonbon to China
FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has added China to its remit for the popular design property Rebecca Bonbon from Crown Creative, which furthers its global exclusive rights ownership of the brand.
FME has appointed Promotional Partners Worldwide (PPW) to act as the official master licensee for Rebecca Bonbon in the region for a three year term, this will be managed by Amrita Sindhu, senior vice president, Licensing Asia, FremantleMedia Enterprises.
PPW and FME will work together to develop a consumer product drive in the territory and will form a comprehensive licensing program for Rebecca Bonbon in China to help expose the brand and attract licensees. PPW will focus on generating deals in the apparel, accessories, jewelery, timepiece, mobile and computer accessories, stationery, gifts, home decoration and confectionery markets; exploring exclusive retail partnerships and creating collaborative apparel collections with well known Chinese fashion brands.
The brand will be aimed at the teen girls and young women demographic in China. Across EMEA Rebecca Bonbon has 25 licensees creating branded products such as apparel, jewellery, bags, stationery, bedding, blankets, credit card holders, iPhone covers, home decorations and accessories.
French gifts and accessories company Alpa produce more than 60,000 branded Rebecca Bonbon products and the Leomil Group create branded footwear and various apparel. French retailer MOA signed a deal to stock Rebecca Bonbon jewellery and accessories across their EMEA-wide network of stores. In the US, FME has an exclusive retail deal with Sears, with Kids Headquarters serving as master licensee, to roll out over 320 products from the girls lifestyle brand in over 2,000 stores across the US and Canada. The brand enjoys great success in Japan with over 50 licensees.
Rebecca Bonbon is a hugely popular Japanese character created by the original Hello Kitty designer Yuko Shimizu. Rebecca loves all things sweet, especially bonbons, which is how she came to be affectionately known as Rebecca Bonbon. FME acquired the exclusive rights from Crown Creative in 2008 and now represents the brand globally (excluding Japan and Korea).
Ivan Chan, President of PPW commented: "We are delighted to be working with FremantleMedia Enterprises to bring Rebecca Bonbon to teen girls and young ladies across China. This is an extremely exciting time for us."
