Latest fundraising challenge in aid of the Light Fund

Following the success of 50 Stones on a Bike challenge, which saw The 3 Sock Monkeys from Roy Lowe and Sons raise in excess of £4000, by cycling 165 miles from North Nottinghamshire to The Licensing Awards in London, Martin Lowe, Richard Radford and Dean Greasley have now unveiled details of their latest fundraising challenge in aid of industry charity The Light Fund.

The Light Fund Big Trade Up Challenge will see the 3 Sock Monkeys attempting to ‘trade up’ a single light bulb for a highly desirable item that will be auctioned or sold at The Licensing Awards on Tuesday 13th September 2011 with all proceeds going to The Light Fund and the variety of good causes that the charity supports.

Based upon the world famous real life story of Kyle MacDonald who successfully traded one red paper clip for a house, the only criteria for The Light Fund Big Trade Up Challenge is that each item traded must be bigger and better than the last.

The 3 Sock Monkeys said: “Without wanting to pile too much pressure on ourselves, we’ve said, or rather Martin has said, that if we don’t get a car involved somewhere along the line, then we’ve failed so no pressure at all then.  To make this challenge a success we need to get as many people involved as possible, and not just the usual suspects within the licensing game. We want to try and get everybody’s friends and colleagues involved, as the more interest we can generate then the more chance we have of trading up to something that will raise lots of cash for The Light Fund.  I’m sure there’s going to be some interesting and possibly obscure trades going on.”

If you’re interested in becoming involved and can offer something bigger and better than a light bulb contact Radda on 07970 548363, email Richard@roylowe.co.uk or tweet @50stoneandabulb.  Otherwise expect the 3 Sock Monkeys to be in touch.
