Cars zoom into Disney's best seller list
Cars is officially Disney's fastest growing franchise
Following the launch of the new Disney/Pixar Cars 2 DVD this week,
Disney is celebrating the success of its ever growing Cars franchise.
Disney/ Pixar Cars 2 consumer products are finding their way to
retailers’ and press top Christmas gift lists and the property claimed
the toys’ top spot as property of the month in September, driving the
overall growth of the toy industry that month.
In addition to die cast cars, remote control vehicles and the full range
of toys one would expect, the Disney/Pixar Cars franchise boasts a
successful clothing range, with pyjamas and outerwear quickly becoming
‘must-haves’ in every little boy’s wardrobe. The publishing programme
includes books and magazines, and the home décor line features the
number one boys’ bedding design. The franchise also branches into the
food and drink industry, with offerings such as the Cars Yeo Valley and
Calypso soft drinks ranges among others.
Disney will be supporting this property through brand new content and
consumer products for 2012 and beyond, with a new portfolio of
merchandise for children, adults and collectors alike, with multiple
price-points to suit all audiences.

Disney Company UK and Ireland says, “Not only have we continued to
benefit from the popularity of Disney’s core evergreen brands, but this
year’s big entertainment property, Disney/Pixar Cars 2, has gone from
strength to
strength, becoming our largest toy line yet with over 300 new toys -
offering something for everyone and a year-round opportunity for
retail.”
In an industry first, Disney recently launched the ‘AppMATes’ Mobile
Application Toy featuring characters from the Disney/Pixar Cars 2 movie.
Coming to life digitally when used with an Apple iPad, it allows
children to use the tablet’s screen as a virtual interactive playmat.
