Discovery Communications and Zap Toys Take Young Explorers On A Mobile Adventure With Upcoming Launch Of Discovery Kids Smart Phone Games
Discovery Communications, Inc., the world’s number one nonfiction media
company, announced today a licensing agreement with Zap Toys for a
series of mobile games under the popular Discovery Kids brand
Discovery Kids’ Scuba Adventure will be the first title released as part of the explorer series, where kids take on the role of young adventurers traveling the world. At launch, the game will be available for download on both the iPod Touch and iPhone, before rolling out to the iPad shortly thereafter. The deal was brokered on behalf of Discovery Communications by Big Tent Entertainment, the North American licensing agent for the Discovery Kids brand.
Scuba Adventure is a race against time and diminishing oxygen supply, while avoiding dangerous underwater foes, including sharks, stingrays and jellyfish. Young explorers navigate through a range of waters from the continental shelves and abyssal planes in the ocean’s depth to the Amazon River to uncover the buried treasure before their oxygen tank is depleted. Along the way, kids learn about the various animal and plant life thriving in some of the least explored parts of our waters. Scuba Adventure and additional Discovery Kids mobile games will be available in the U.S. and Canada at www.zaptoys.com and iTunes.com.

The mobile games deal with Zap Toys follows closely on the heels of the debut of Discovery Kids’ first iPad app, Discovery Kids Sharks, which was developed in partnership with Parragon Books.
