Little Airplane Productions launches Small Potatoes animation factory tour
Award-Winning Creator Of Preschool Television Shows Offers Interactive Tour Featuring live "Hologram" performance by the real Small Potatoes.
Little Airplane Productions, the award-winning creator of some of pre-school television’s most popular shows, including Nick Jr.’s The Wonder Pets! and 3rd & Bird on Disney Junior is launching The Small Potatoes Animation Factory Tour, a family-friendly guided tour of its state-of-the-art animation studio.
The Small Potatoes Animation Factory Tour brings fans face-to-face with the main characters of the company’s newest animated television hit, Small Potatoes, which launched in the US on Disney Junior in September, 2011. The Small Potatoes Animation Factory Tour provides a close up, insider’s look at how the series is made. Every aspect of production, from writing to animation to voice-over recording, is explained by the creative team at Little Airplane. At each stop on the tour, families are invited to participate in hands-on activities such as helping to animate a character or having their own voices recorded in a professional audio booth. The highlight of the tour is a "hologram" inside a beautiful wooden red barn. Families are invited to peek inside the barn to see the real Small Potatoes sing and dance.
"The Small Potatoes Animation Factory Tour is a unique opportunity for families to see first-hand how one of their favorite new television shows is made. It's a completely interactive, very informative, and really fun experience for adults and kids," says Josh Selig, President and Founder, Little Airplane Productions.
The Small Potatoes continue to grow as a worldwide Facebook phenomenon with over 250,000 fans and an average of 3,000 new "likes" a day. In addition to interacting with the band members on Facebook, fans of the page are invited to request their own free custom potato based on their Facebook profile picture or another image. These custom potatoes are then used by many fans as avatars for all their Facebook activity. The Small Potatoes Facebook page has a strong following among teens and college students as well as parents of preschoolers (www.facebook.com/thesmallpotatoes).
Each Small Potatoes TV episode contains one music video and two comedy sketches. The members of the band are Ruby, the diva, Nate, the artist, Olaf, the caretaker, and Chip, a quirky little spud. The band's songs cover every popular musical genre, from Motown to reggae and rock & roll. Composers and lyricists for Small Potatoes include such luminaries as Jerry Bock, Tony Award winner for Best Musical and Best Composer and Lyricist of the classic Fiddler on the Roof. All the music for Small Potatoes is produced by Little Airplane's three-time Emmy Award-winning Musical Director, Jeffrey Lesser. The series was created, directed and executive produced by Josh Selig.
