Match Stars fly to The Americas!
New international distribution agreement will see the figures launched across Latin America
Agreements
have already been signed with some of the biggest names in world
football – with Match Stars lines set to appear in the official kits of
Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester United and FC
Barcelona. The teams will be closely replicated and star players such as
Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, Andy Carroll and Lionel Messi are all set
to become available in Match Stars format.
The new agreement will
see the Manchester United and FC Barcelona lines launched in Mexico
initially, after Pattni signed a deal with Funky Toys – a top Mexican
distributor with connections to giant retail chain Walmart as well as a
host of other big outlets. The Mexican market will then be followed by
distribution across the rest of Latin America, whilst there is also
potential for the range to extend into the US.
“This is a massive
new deal for us,” says Pattni Imaginations MD Mayur Pattni. “We have
already established significant interest in Match Stars in the UK, so
international expansion was the next step and to have secured this
agreement in a part of the world that’s absolutely football-crazy is a
significant achievement and a sign of things to come!"
Football
is huge across Mexico and Latin America and both Manchester United and
FC Barcelona are incredibly popular there; Manchester United forward
Chicharito is a Mexican international and a massive star across the
region and the team also boasts South American heroes such as Anderson
and Antonio Valencia. FC Barcelona are also widely supported thanks to
the area’s Spanish heritage, coupled with the presence of local legends
such as Messi and Daniel Alves in the team. The possible expansion into
the US raises the prospect of tapping into one of football’s biggest
emerging markets – global stars such as David Beckham now ply their
trade in the country and millions of Americans both play and watch the
game.
