Entertainment
One Family has announced that it has renewed its deal with Character
Options Limited for Peppa Pig until the end of 2014
Character will now continue to be the master toy licensee for Peppa.
Hannah Mungo, Head of UK Licensing for Entertainment One is delighted
by the deal: "We are delighted to announce the renewal of our contract
with Character who have been an outstanding Peppa Pig licensee since
2004," she says.
"Character has been instrumental in helping us to build Peppa selling
over 8 million units across 100 different product lines and in 2010
leading the way for Peppa to scoop the title of the UK’s No. 1 Preschool
Property based upon toy sales."
Character will now be using the new themes presented in the highly
anticipated Peppa Pig episodes from the show’s award winning creators
Astley Baker Davies as inspiration for new plush toys and plastic
play-sets, figures and vehicles.
Key lines for 2011 include the World of Peppa play-set which is widely
tipped to be a Christmas best seller and which will help Character
achieve forecast sales of £15 million at UK retail. Looking forward to
2012, Peppa’s Treehouse play-set is predicted to be a key sales driver
for AW12 and Character have already committed to 1,200 TVR’s next year.
Commenting on the Peppa Pig deal renewal, Character Group’s Joint
Managing Director Jon Diver comments: “Peppa Pig has been an incredible
success story for Character. We have enjoyed a fantastic partnership
with the creators for many years that has allowed us to work as a team
and develop a widely-successful and classic pre-school toy range. This
has turned out to be a truly evergreen brand and with the renewal of the
agreement we look forward to many more exciting years of partnership
and development to come.”
