Disney CP gets a new President
Robert Chapek heads up the Consumer product division
The restructured CP division of Disney will be led by Robert Chapek, it was announced yesterday.
Formerly Head of Distribution, Robert will report directly to Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger. He will consolidate the retail aspect and licensing throughout Disney's businesses including Pixar, Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Consumer Products.
One of the more interesting aspects of this new strategy is that DVDs will now be sold alongside toys, apparel and video games as a strategy to prolong their shelf life.
Meanwhile Disney CP will head over to Zagreb in November to attend Licensing New Europe Show and Conference.
Part of the show will be dedicated exclusively Disney, where executives will lead workshop on the ‘Basics of licensing’ and ‘How to license’. There will also be presentations and screenings of Disney brands, which are being specifically prepared for LNE 2011.
The show focuses on Central and Eastern European territories and last year attracted more than 350 participants who took the opportunity to share their experience and knowledge with licensing industry professionals and specialists from New Europe.
