Google Doodle honour Star Trek's 45th Anniversary

Google celebrate 45 years of Star Trek with themed doodle

Exactly 45 years ago, Star Trek was introduced to the world. Google is celebrating the show's historic launch with the doodle featuring the classic iconography from the series including mobile communications, automatic doors, pointy ears and green aliens.

The Star Trek doodle is set to take over Google's global homepage for the anniversary today.

"Star Trek has inspired millions of people across the world for the last 45 years, and we're honoured that the Google team is paying tribute to the iconic series in such a creative and fun way," said Liz Kalodner, EVP and General Manager of CBS Consumer Products.

Fan Mosaics will honour the legendary series by offering three officially licensed, limited edition, Star Trek mosaic prints for true fans. This one-of-a-kind product allows fans to upload their own personal images, which will then be used to re-create either Captain Kirk, Spock or the U.S.S. Enterprise as a mosaic print.
